Top 9 Tips to Keep New Year Resolutions
Author
New Year brings lots of things for us, one being the old-age tradition of resolutions. But we all know that those resolutions don’t last longer than a week. Everywhere I’ve been seeing, some person or the other is saying “new year, new me”! But this can be pressurizing. Thinking about new beginnings and positive changes after the last year feels a little difficult.
So, as we are moving closer toward that great day, I’ve come to realise that we should set goals that are realistic and can be achieved. Now the question is, how to stay motivated?
Here is a list of ideas that feel practical and good enough to keep us motivated. Read on to know about them –
Outside Support
- Life Coach
Get yourself a life coach who will not only listen to your troubles but also give you practical advice. Whether it is about setting up a new business, becoming more active, or learning a new hobby, it is always helpful to talk about ideas with someone.
- Find an Accountability Partner
Nowadays, people are teaming up to work and hold one another accountable. It might seem a little far-fetched but I think it is useful for those who always require a little nudge to achieve their goals.
- Find a Community
One way to keep yourself and other people motivated is to find a group. Everyone can help one another during roadblocks and difficult times.
Visual Goals
- Maintain a Diary
You can always write down the goals in a diary. This helps you maintain the progress and acts as a reminder that you have to follow through with the goals this year.
- Track the Progress
If your goal is to run this year, make sure that you maintain a training log. It will help you understand the progress and beat yourself to the game. You can maintain this log in a diary or on your smartphone.
Automatic Tracking
- Set a Proper Routine
If you want to achieve the New Year’s goals, it is important to set a routine. It gives you a chance to focus on the most important things. Whether it is waking up early in the morning or sleeping timely at night, a proper routine will always help.
- Celebrate Small Victories
Being hard on yourself all the time is not the answer. You should always treat yourself to small achievements. It acts as a motivation to achieve the next goals and keeps the momentum going.
Self-care
- Proper Sleep
A well-rested body works more actively as compared to a tired one. So, make sure that you are getting enough sleep. If your goal is to meditate early morning, make sure you sleep early.
- Regular Exercise
Exercising is a positive habit and it helps you become a better person, mentally and physically. Regardless of what’s on your goal list this New Year, make sure you plan regular workouts.
Quick Recap
New Year's resolutions are tough to fulfil. You need a little push, motivation, and a healthy lifestyle to stay on your goals. With the help of a few tricks and tips, you can move one step closer to your goals.
