New places suitable for trekking are being constantly discovered and the number of people that love trekking is also increasing. Whether you are new to trekking or a seasoned trekker there is no way you can be prepared for all weather conditions at the same time. Given below are some tips that may help you get through all kinds of backpacking problems, especially weather related:
Plan Ahead of Time
Missing out on some things, while you go out on a trek is always possible because most of the time, a trekking trip is spontaneous. So, to avoid any inconveniences on your trip, you must start planning ahead of time. Be aware of the weather of the place. The moment you know that the weather is going to be pleasant over there, start preparations for the trip.
Choosing the Best Clothes
Everybody knows that clothes are the first and foremost thing that you should pack, when you are preparing to go out on a trekking trip. They are supposed to make you feel comfortable throughout your journey, while also protecting you from the climate of the place. It obviously won’t work out good for you, if you pack cool clothes, where it is actually mildly chilled in the mountains. So, always be sure to pack clothes that are lightweight, and also give you warmth.
Layer up or At Least Carry Some
When you go out for a hiking trip in the summer, it is okay if you don’t carry too many clothes. You can just get into your cosy, cool clothes; put on a hat and you are good to go! On the other hand, when we talk about travelling and backpacking in the fall or winters, it is important that you stay updated with the news regarding high winds, rain or snow, and then pack clothes and other gear accordingly. You can also carry plastic bags to protect your gear from water.
Look Out for Changes in the Sky
You can tell a lot about the weather of a place from a look of the sky and the surroundings. If the sky is lightly clouded, it is most likely going to be a sunny day; if the clouds look dense, they might bring rain; and if you can feel the haze in the air, the place might turn a bit chilly. This helps you cover yourself and mark your route accordingly.
Stay Hydrated and Stay Calm
Extreme summer calls for staying hydrated, while cold weather asks you to be calm and warm. There is no reason to freak out when things go wrong while travelling. Something is bound to happen, if there is only one thing you did not pay attention to. So, be aware of the conditions as well as stay calm and cool throughout. This way, unpredictable climate will not be able to harm your trip or even your health.
