There are many people who want to have a comfortable snowboarding or skiing trip but are doubtful about what gears to bring and what not. Carrying unnecessary baggage is never a good idea but neither is leaving any much needed essential. This blog will give a basic idea about things to bring on our snowboarding trip to make it more comfortable and fulfilling.
Read on to find out the essentials you will need to make your skiing and snowboarding trip an experience of a lifetime.
Snowboard with Bindings
You can rent a snowboard of your choice from your snowboarding resort. The beginners should prefer boards that are shorter for easier control and handling. The bindings are used to tie your feet to the board. Choose a binding of the size that can easily fasten your boots to the board. Beginner level snowboarders can take the help of other employees at the resort for fastening their boots to snowboards before riding.
Boots and Socks
Buy specialised boots for your snowboarding trip beforehand according to your own comfort. Do not try renting as you might not find boots that are comfortable for your feet. Buy socks that wick moisture quickly off your feet as your feet tend to sweat during the activity. Try wearing thin synthetic socks of reasonably high length to avoid rubbing of the skin against the boots. Do not wear socks that are too thick as it will lead to too much sweating due to the added insulation of boots.
Helmet
Rent or buy a helmet with a perfect fit for protecting your head while snowboarding. Nowadays, there are helmets that include ear-pads with Bluetooth for attending calls or listening to music while riding. Pick a sturdy heavy helmet that can do the job of protecting your head, especially if you are a beginner as there might be instances where you can fall.
Jackets and Pants
Pick water and windproof jacket for your trip but make sure that it is breathable as it will allow your sweat to dry quickly and also maintain the body temperature. The material of the pants should be similar to the jacket that is breathable and weatherproof. Add extra layers of clothing beneath your jacket and pants for added protection from chilly weather.
Gloves
Buy insulated and weatherproof gloves that can protect your hands when they are in contact with the snow. You can buy specialised touchscreen gloves that will allow you to use your smartphone without the trouble of taking your gloves off in freezing cold. These types of gloves will help you to remain in contact with people, click pictures or listen to music by connecting with your Bluetooth-enabled helmet.
Neck protection Gear and Snowboard Goggles
Neck is a delicate body part that may become exposed as you pick up speed while skiing. Have a proper neck protection gear to save yourself from the wind. Similarly, snowboard googles will help protect your eyes from freezing wind and debris while riding. Pick the goggle according to the size of your face for ideal fitting.
This is the list of basic essentials you must have before going to your snowboarding trip. There are other essentials you can pick according to the local weather conditions. Always remain prepared for emergency conditions and pick your gears accordingly.
