Living a nomadic life sounds like a lot of fun as you are constantly on the move, away from home. While for many people it is a crazy idea, for others it is the perfect way of exploring and getting to know the world. In this exploration, the most important companion is your vehicle, as you are dependent on it for going anywhere and even carrying your essentials, especially on a long road trip. While you can choose a two-wheeler too, the perk of having a car is something different. Even better when you have planned a trip during winter.

Food and other essentials

Keep a stock of foods that require less preparation and can be consumed for a long time. As winters can be tough, you can keep a thermos with you to beat the heat with a hot cup of coffee. Apart from food, carry all your medicines, both prescribed as well as for common problems such as headache, fever, etc.

Be Prepared

Before you head for your winter trip, please make sure you fix your car or get its servicing done. Your car breaking down in the middle of wilderness is not part of the fun. Keep your car accessories and other tools including shovels, chains, and rope handy with you. In case you can’t find a mechanic, you need to have some skills to resolve the smaller issues by yourself.

Carry Everything You Need

Chains can be your rescue on the sketchy roads. Make sure you have insulated the walls and have nice bedding inside on which to sleep. You will also need to create some space for your clothes, cooking/camping equipment, gear, etc. Stackable things are better as they will take less space and make room for you to lie comfortably.

Keep it Clean

Staying clean can be a real task as you will be living in your car most of the time without even basic facilities like a shower and a washroom. But you can’t just make this an excuse to become a dirtbag. Avoid buildup of garbage in your car, dumping it from time to time. Find a place where you can take a quick shower, as many people will find it undesirable to be your guest if this necessitates the toleration of a repugnant odour or scent. You can find a shower in mates' houses, petrol/service stations, public swimming pools or even hotels. Get cleaned up whenever you get the chance.

Pastimes

Remember that you are going to spend a lot of time away from family and even friends. So you can keep connected with them through phone and Wi-Fi. With the amazing technologies of today, you can even carry your music, books, and movies for the purpose of entertaining yourself while you are waiting for the sunrise or the clearing up of weather.

Now, these were just a few things to help you plan a road trip in winter. Nothing can beat that feeling of riding through cities and countries diminishing all the boundaries. But this adventure can turn into a nightmare if you don't have the proper funding. Don’t forget that you will be paying a lot in petrol, tolls, tickets, and passes. Making a budget and considering all of the major expenses will help to ensure a smooth ride.
