Setting up a fitness goal is exciting but following through is exceptionally difficult, do you agree? Well, we do. Being healthy and fit is a thing that everyone wants these days but the struggles and efforts that comes with it is not everyone's cup of tea. If you are the one who is lifting the head up to meet that fitness goal you set, you have come to the right place. Helping you to follow through, there are some ways to stick to your health resolution.
Be Realistic
Set simple and attainable goals instead of targeting something way out of your league. Nothing is more motivation killer than the failure you got. Make sure you add activities in your schedule that pushes you to an extent without being unreachable. Start slowly by running a mile or two or taking the stairs to build your stamina. As you start progressing day by day, you can add more challenges to it.
Break Up the Goal
No one is asking you to become an athlete in one day nor are you going to gain or lose 50 pounds overnight. Be a little more of a critical thinker and break your goal in which it is manageable. A goal that is far away or taking you out of your comfort zone could be a motivation killer. Better yet, you should make small resolutions and enjoy the victory every time you complete one. For instance, instead of visualizing a goal of doing 10000 push ups a year, make it more convenient and easier for you to do by setting a goal of 28 push ups a day. Seems easy, right?
Join your Buddy!
If you find it difficult to go alone to the gym or sticking to your daily fitness routine, join your buddy with the same goal. Find a friend, neighbour, or a family member for that matter with a similar resolution and work towards it together. It is more fun and that way you challenge each other, be in a healthy competition, and celebrate the success together.
Spice Things Up!
If you keep your workout same and boring throughout the months or year, it will start to take a toll on you. Adding more challenges or spicing things a little will encourage you to get up from the bed and follow your goal. Incorporate new exercises, use new machines, join Zumba or dancing classes to break the monotony and just to have more fun! Don't be afraid to take your workout sessions out of the gym such as with good weather, running outside is much more rewarding and effective than indoors.
Ask for Help
Learning never gets old. If you are into the fitness regime, dropping a new activity or exercise just because you find it difficult to do or don't know how to do it at all is no excuse to put it off. If you are curious to learn new techniques, move ahead and ask a personal trainer or instructor the ways to do it right. Don't be too self-conscious about asking for advice. Another tip: You can always YouTube or Google the videos about certain techniques or lifting exercises to get it right, that too avoiding the injuries.
Now that you have some kickass ideas to how to keep on track, don’t lose the motivation again and who knows you will be getting the compliments in the next party you attend!
