Hiking is a wonderful experience and a perfect way to find a place to have some fun. It also requires great physical speed and stamina. If you are planning a long trail weekend, it's incredibly important to prepare and schedule. You have to bring all the things you need, such as good food and medical supplies, so you can prevent an extremely traumatic experience.
Moreover, you need to learn how to behave on the mountain to complete your adventures. While much of this information comes from practice, it's important to remember some simple facts that even experienced hikers sometimes forget about.
Here are some of the tips that will make your hiking trip memorable and successful!
Eat More, Stay Energetic
When you start your hiking trip, you might feel tired after some point of time. So, it is important that you should stay energetic and enthusiastic to enjoy every moment of it. Don't forget to pack food that contains a high content of protein and carbohydrates so your body can restore the energy it needs.
Plan your Sleeping Schedule
Do ensure you get enough sleep, as the body releases hormones that are responsible for tissue growth and repair while sleeping. You should wear compression leggings that not only help you get good night's sleep but also reduce swelling and stiffness of the muscle.
Ice Therapy
Hiking certainly can cause the muscles to swell and become sore. Be sure to put ice on your legs and keep them in chilled water for 5-10 minutes, to get rid of the pain and enjoy your walk. That will help reduce tissue swelling and breakdown.
It’s Important to Stay Hydrated
It's natural to feel dehydrated even though you handled your water intake smartly during your travel. As metabolic function and nutrient transfer depend on the water intake so make sure you drink plenty of water in short time intervals. Carry your own water bottles with you and rehydrate yourself when required.
Don’t Forget to Stretch!
You should do stretching after coming back from your amazing adventure. This will guard you against injuries and pain. If you've been carrying some kind of heavy loads on your trip, make sure you do the back and neck exercises.
No Pain, No Gain!
When you come back from a hiking trip, your body will be totally rigid and exhausted. But start with some light exercises like jogging, biking and light jogging. This will help you minimise fatigue and improve muscle movement, and will also facilitate nutrient and waste transfer through the body. Little exercise after the trip won't harm!
Get a relaxing massage!
Massage is everything you need to get rid of all the pain and tension after a hike. Book a delightful massage from an expert, or consider massaging yourself using a foam roller as well. This will not only help you get rid of your body's stiffness, but will also relax your muscles and give you a sense of tranquilly.
Consult your Doctor
After 4-5 days of coming back from hiking, if you still feel the pain then you should pay a visit to a doctor. There is a possibility that you might have injured some bone that can cause a severe problem in the future. Why take a risk, you must visit!
Never go hiking without proper preparation and all the essentials that are required. Not only is it exciting but it's also a fun workout that will help you clear and refresh your mind. If you follow all the above tips, then you'll have an incredible hiking experience that you always wanted.
