25th September is National Get Outside Day. It is the day to switch off your TV, putting your boots and trainers on and to head outside to explore your favourite trails and forests. It does not require you to go out and explore big adventures but to make some time outside and appreciate the time that you have spent with nature.

Here are some of the ways to inspire you to go outside and enjoy you Getting outside Day:

  • Plan a Bike Ride Using National Cycle Network

One of the favourite features of the Ordinance Survey online map is that is has al the map and route for cycling using the specific NCN layered map. There are a lot of routes with endless possibilities to explore your favourite route and to make your perfect bike ride. It is great for those who do not want to worry about the roads. You can add a coffee or ice cream stop to the journey to make it more enjoyable.

  • Plan a Back Garden Camping

Going outside and exploring does not mean that you have to venture out in the wild, far from home. It could also mean that you can camp in your backyard and enjoy with your friends and family in your backyard. It is also a great team building and bonding exercise that can be done with your family and friends. You can come back to the camp in the evening for a fire and some marshmallows.

  • Set Yourself a Challenge

If you love riding bikes, you can set a challenge of riding the fastest or covering more distance with time. Get your friends to come along and have a wonderful time camping in the woods and enjoying the natural sunlight. You will definitely appreciate the time away from the city’s hustle bustle and create memories with your friends and family.

  • Try Something New

Try paddle boarding or surfing i you haven’t tried yet. It is important to try new things as long as you are comfortable with it. I have always thought of giving new things a go but never came around to actually doing it. Get outside Day can be pretty useful if you want to create a day for yourself filled with newer adventures and find the opportunity to tick off things from your bucket list.

  • Revisit An Old Favourite

If you are encouraged to tick things off from your bucket list, you can easily search for different types of places where you can do that. It is not only rewarding but also helps you fall in line with the outdoors. A perfect time to explore what you love doing , the Get Outside Day is one of the ways through which you can experience the memory one more time by travelling to the old place you would love to visit. It could be your favourite park, favourite bike ride route, or your favourite trail.

  • Try To Run A Lap of Your Home Town

If you are into running, you can easily make use of that to get outside. An early morning can be the start to your get outside day. You can make use of the OS maps and can run a lap of the home town or cycle through. Use all footpaths, and explore the wilderness that you might find along the way. You can realise there are a lot of possibilities to wander around and have a good time.
