Meal Ideas While Camping

If you are planning a camping trip, open-air meals would be a wonderful choice while you are enjoying the outdoors. You can always go for freshly cooked food instead of a packaged meal. Whether you are glamping, backpacking, or inside a tent, cooking a meal over a stove or fire is a good idea.
Here are some meal ideas to choose from, while you are camping outdoors:
- Sausage Sauté Garnished With Apples And Cabbages
Serving two to four people, this easy-to-cook meal requires minimum ingredients.
Ingredients
- One and a half pounds of sweet Italian sausage
- Two apples
- Half sliced red onion
- Sea salt
- One cup cider
- Black pepper (ground)
- One tablespoon olive oil
- Two tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Half red head cabbage, with half-inch-thick slices
Method
- Heat the oil over medium-high heat on a cast-iron pan or skillet. A camping stove would work best while camping. Sauté the links until they are brown and set them aside.
- Cook sliced apples, cabbage, and onion pieces together and turn the heat down to medium. Season it with salt and pepper. Add Italian sausage and let it cook for about four minutes.
- Cook until it is brown and then mix the veggies. Add apple cider and vinegar to enhance the taste, and stir the mixture for about 20 minutes until it is fully cooked.
- Campfire Hot Dogs
Serve as many as you like, this easy recipe has a quick prep process.
Ingredients
- Crescent rolls/ simple hot dog rolls
- Hot dogs
Method
- Skewer each hot dog properly until it can be held without creating a mess. Place the crescent rolls on top of the hot dogs and wrap each hot dog in a triangle shape.
- Wrap them inside foils and roast over the fire for 15 to 20 minutes
- Serve hot, with your favourite sauce.
- Pie Iron Pizza
A combination of grilled cheese, pepperoni and pizza crust dough, this meal can serve up to four people.
Ingredients
- One cup pizza sauce
- 14 ounces pizza crust dough
- Nine ounces sliced pepperoni
- 12 ounces shredded m mozzarella cheese
Method
- Roll the pizza dough into four rectangular slices
- Coat the inside of the iron with a non-stick spray and put the dough into the side after you spread the sauce.
- Add toppings of mozzarella, basil, and pinch the dough to close the pizza. Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes and rotate it accordingly.
- Serve hot with pizza sauce and enjoy your meal!
- Walking Tacos
A go-to meal while camping, serve as many tacos as you like.
Ingredients
- Small tortilla chips
- Shredded lettuce
- Cheese (cheddar)
- Sour cream (the amount you like)
- Pineapple salsa
- Your favourite pork
Method
- Heat the pan, over the stove in medium flame and fry the pork over it. Season it accordingly.
- Crush the tortilla chips and fold the sides of the bag to form a bowl. Put the pork on top of the chips and serve it with salsa, sour cream and cilantro leaves with pepper seasoning.
- Enjoy your meal with your friends and loved ones!
