Dogs are probably the best gift to humanity. And all those who own a dog know that we like to take our furry friends to any adventures or trail we hit. There is nothing better than exploring a new place with a four-legged friend by your side. So, if you are thinking of experiencing something like this with your dog, you couldn’t have taken a better decision.
Lake District especially gives you ample opportunities to bring your furry friend with you without creating a fuss with so many trails to hit and of course, pet-friendly and self-catered cottages that will surely give you some memorable time with your pet. This particular place has routes for every kind of trail runner with plenty of opportunities for your pet to sniff around and also take a dip. Let’s get to know where you can have the best time.
Keswick, Derwentwater Circuit – 10 Miles
The shoreline of Derwentwater lake gives you the perfect scenic walk that you would love to take with your pet, in the bustling tourist town of Keswick. The 10 miles walking trail is not short yet it is mostly flat, meaning it is the perfect ground walk for humans and canines of all abilities and sizes.
This route gives you some of the best things of nature with ancient woodlands and shorelines, thus, it is ideal for spotting wildlife. Stop for a picnic or just stroll the place with your pet and enjoy the cafes that fall en route. If you wish to make your walk shorter, take the launch from the several landing stages located around the lake. The launch is also pet-friendly.
Dodd Fell and Dodd Wood – 5 Miles
Visit the highest Lake District fells – Dodd Fell, which is pushchair accessed so you can enjoy this place with your family and dogs. The walk winds through the magical Dodd Wood and is known as a wildlife hotspot and is a well-known place to find red squirrels. You will also find dedicated viewpoints for Bassenthwaite ospreys.
It is an easy path to follow with occasional inclines towards the summit. Enjoy the landscapes and sceneries as this route rewards you with all the surrounding fells including Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, and others. So, do not forget to bring the camera as you do not want to miss the panoramic shots.
Ennerdale Water – 7.5 Miles
Do you and your dog share a common interest in lengthier walks? Then, Ennerdale Water is where you will find your solace. Surrounded by the picturesque, Ennerdale valley, this trail constitutes of more rugged and wild terrains, however, you are sure to get some stunning views nonetheless.
Spend some time amidst nature for this lake offers tranquillity and the absence of road along the shoreline also suggests that there are fewer crowds and lesser noise. If you are looking to capture some incredible shots with your dog, this is the place to do so. Some of the stunning backdrops include Green Gable, Great Gable, and High Crag.
Tarn Hows – 2 Miles
Tarn Hows, located near Coniston, is a beauty spot of nature which is ideal if you are looking for a gentle stroll. One of the easiest walks of the Lake District, this trail is also ideal for a serene evening walk with your dog. Though it is a relatively easy route for the walk, that does not mean that there is anything less nature has to offer. The tarn is enclosed within a pretty woodland that overlooks the majestic Langdale Pikes.
Choose Your Delight
Do not let your furry friend miss out on what you two enjoy the most while on Lake District. The walks are not where your companionship with your dog ends, but some various cottages and inns allow your pet dog with you for the night stay to rejuvenate and freshen up.
