Ladies Walking Trousers On Test
Over the past few weeks we have been road testing two of the most popular items in our range of ladies trousers, the Crossfell from Regatta and the Kiwi from Craghoppers. Here are the results, do you agree? Why not let us know.

These proved to be very adaptable and gave that extra bit of comfort with the waist being part elasticated and what can be described as a generous fit. They certainly cope well when faced with a sudden shower and are comfortable enough to wear all day long. They proved great for a day’s walking, and also as something to use for normal everyday wear, especially when doing jobs around the house. I would say with prices starting from £15.80 with cut off / zip off versions available, this style of trousers is a great entry level purchase.
In a Nutshell:
7/10

These were definitely a fitted trouser, sitting on the waist, although there was plenty of stretch in the material that made them very comfortable to wear. They were light yet durable enough to stand up to a multi day trek and were still relatively clean and fresh by the end. They certainly dry quickly, whether that is after a good soaking outdoors or giving them a quick rinse at the end of the day ready for the following day’s walking. Even though the material is certainly durable, it still feels light when worn, although you may need another layer if worn in the winter.
I also liked the zip pockets which allowed me to keep my belongings nice and safe on my travels, they are also made from SolarDry UPF of 40+, which means they protect you from the sun's rays, more time to enjoy the outdoors. however, when testing I didn't see much sun, maybe the solardry is a benefit in southern England this weekend :-)
I found them very versatile and would wear them for yoga, running or lounging around the house or in the garden. The comfort is a big factor and liked the way they flattered my shape, unlike a lot of ladies walking trousers.
In a Nutshell:
8.5/10
Verdict:
Both pairs would certainly get you through a day’s hiking as far as comfort is concerned, even in the rain. From a personal point of view the Kiwi Pro Stretch Trousers certainly were a better fit and felt lighter when being worn, even though both the Kiwi weighed a little heavier but the material was more robust. The fit my shape better and don't look too baggie, which is a regular complaint, when wearing ladies walking trousers, as mentioned. While the Crossfell trousers were certainly comfortable to wear and did the job they were a looser fit but did supply enough pocket space.
If given the choice I would go for the Craghoppers ladies pro stretch kiwi trousers, well worth the additional cash as I looked a lot better & felt I could wear them anywhere, but if on a budget the Crossfell would certainly be a contender.
