Great outdoor clothing for children
Young kids will always want to be like their parents (that is, until they become rebellious teenagers!). Whether you a runner mummy, a cycling daddy, a snowboarding mum or a horse riding dad, there is a good chance that Little Miss or Little Master will be keen to dress like their mum or dad.
Like cycling father like cycling son
Nine-year-old Alexander, of Glasgow, loves cycling with his dad John. But not only does he want to pedal alongside John, Alexander also wants to look the same. If dad has padded shorts, a cycling jacket, cycling gloves and cycling shoes, Alex wants them, too.
Fortunately, for youngsters there is a wide range of sports and outdoors-specific clothing designed and manufactured to fit smaller sizes. So for Christmas this year, not only did Alex receive a new bike but his auntie also gifted him a pair of boy’s winter cycling tights, a cycling jacket and a new helmet. His gran bought him cycling gloves and a speedometer. Next year he’s hoping for clip on cycling shoes, just like his daddy!
From running to skiing, children can wear mini-sized outdoors clothing that offers them comfort and the chance to look the part – just like mini-yous!

Under Armour do a great range in baselayers for youngsters. For girls, the Coldgear Long Sleeve baselayer not only looks good in pink or white but also offers great protection from the cold, whether they are walking, running, cycling or skiing. For boys, there’s the Coldgear in a more laddish colour of red.
Leggings are also a good choice for cold weather activities, especially skiing and snowboarding. Again Under Armour do a range for little ones. A great alternative is Helly Hansen baselayer sets.
Ski kit is a big winner for children. Indeed, many parents will long for gear that looks as bright and colourful as their kids’ kit! Check out the children's ski clothing.
For watersports check out the Helly Hansen Hydro Power Smock Top
There is one area that children definitely get the better deal in outdoor clothing, and that’s funky accessories. Hats are a winner for children. Check out the Dare 2b starspin hat and the Dare 2b peep beanie.
Benefits of outdoor clothing for children
If you're keen to keep your kids active, it pays to buy them great outdoors clothing. Wearing clothing that looks the part is more likely to encourage them to go outdoors and have fun. Looking good, staying warm and dry and wearing clothing that makes them feel comfortable doing the sport they most enjoy is the way to go.
