A recent survey polled by Galaxy suggested the 85% of dog owners credit their canine for encouraging them to get into the the great outdoors and walk.
50% of those surveyed with kids aged between 5 to 17 said their kids spent loads more time outdoors playing and walking than kids would who didn't have a dog.   The survey based in Australia found that Aussies spend approximately two hours each week walking the dog.
The poll was completed by 1000 people and was commissioned by petcare range the Advantage Family.
Surprisingly the survey found six in 10 owners walk their dogs at least three days a week and one in four walk them every day.  We would of thought this figure would of been higher and maybe suggests their pets are not been exercised enough?   It was established that older people with time on their hands walked their dogs an average of 140+ minutes, almost twice as long as young people - no surprise there?
All in all, as a dog owner, we know that dog ownership is associated with better health; lower stress (we all need that in this world today) and improved social skills and self - esteem in young children.
