Are you planning a group camping trip? There are many creative ways to keep your little ones entertained during the adventure. It is easy to grab your iPads and mobile phones, enjoy the scenic beauty from the inside the tent, but it feels more rewarding when you engage with everyone. There are fun games, group adventure and many other things to choose from when you want a wholesome camping experience.
Here are some creative camping games, which will keep you entertained and make everybody happy:
Tagging (flashlight)
Outdoor fun doesn’t need to stop when the campsite gets dark. You can have an entertaining activity lined up during the evenings with your flashlights. A simple game to play, you just require a flashlight for each player, and you are good to go!
Similar to the regular tagging game, hit the players with a beam of light. Instead of getting too close, you can use your flashlight from a distance.
It is fun for all ages. Everyone can enjoy this game during the evenings, right before you start off with a campfire and prep your evening meal. It is, however, advisable to find a safe area to play this game. As it is played during the dark, make sure you are cautious about the space.
Scavenger hunt
A classic camping activity for people who love adventures, scavenging hunt encourages your little ones to explore the surroundings, while keeping it entertaining and educational at the same time.
A valuable alternative to internet surfing and social media, this game can be played with surrounding items which can be easily collected. It can also encourage the children to play outdoor activities, often with more learning through the process. Add bonus points or rewards to make them understand the sense of achievement and have a great time with your kids.
Charades
One of the easiest games to play, the charades require a good sense of imagination, a pen, and a paper. You may ask everyone to write their suggestions and place them in the middle. Simply act out the suggestion for everyone to guess.
Use hand gestures, body movements to indicate the number of syllables and interpret the long words into short ones. You can make your own rule while playing this simple and fun game. Young children can be given easier words, or small syllables to improve their interpretative, acting skills.
Shadow hand puppets
Another night-time game for all age groups, the shadow hand puppets require the bare minimum: your hands and the flashlight. For imaginative minds, this is the best game to play while camping. Use your hands to mimic the suggestion provided in a piece of paper by every participant. You can time the player who mimics to make it faster. It gets hilarious sometimes with everyone pitching their suggestions in.
As engaging as it seems, it can also be played among a large group of people. It doesn’t need to be competitive, just a general fun game which can be played by all.
Planning fun games for your camping trip?
You can explore more such options to engage your kids and yourself while camping. Playing games builds a stronger bond with your loved ones and makes it an overall adventurous and fun camping session. The next time you plan a camping trip with your friends and family, try to engage in simple and fun outdoor games and have a good time!
