When those cold days arrive and you lose your courage to go out and train in the open, an indoor gym becomes your only option to follow your healthy habits. If you are not a gym junkie, then your switch to indoor exercising may not be as smooth as it sounds. To inculcate the spirit of exercising indoors, you can start by paying heed to a few pointers that yours truly endorses.

1. Man is a Creature of Habit

Human beings love to follow patterns. From the time of sleeping to the time of waking up, everything that a human does gets fixed in a certain routine. After following the same schedule for a few days, the human body starts creating alarms in mind which help you start tasks at the scheduled times with ease. It may be difficult for you to start the gym immediately but if you learn about your body cycles and make an extra effort to control them, you will be able to visit the gym regularly in no time.

Take my example for instance; I was always enamored by outdoor circuit training and could not imagine myself going to gym regularly. But when it began snowing outside and I have to relinquish my passion, I began putting on a few extra pounds on my belly. This made me hate myself, and I took on myself to instill the spirit of gym workout in me. How I ingrained it, well, read on and find out.

2. Prepare with the Right Gear

Nothing sets you in the mood for overcoming a challenge than the right gear. Wear comfortable clothes designed for exercising like track pants and gym hoodies along with supporters for a great experience. Stay clear of cotton as it gets soaked with sweat and always choose clothes that have moisture wicking fabric. Also, invest in a decent water bottle to keep yourself hydrated during a grueling session.

3. Set Targets

Start by setting small goals. Main-body-template---Wrap2If you haven’t done any gym work outs in your life, then it is quite easy to get overwhelmed by seeing others lifting massive amount of weights. Never ape others lifting heavier weights as they may be doing that after spending a long time in the gym. I advise that you start with lighter weights and build stamina before attempting heavier lifts.

4. Stick to an exercise routine

When I first entered gym in my life, I had no clue what to do. I was too shy to go to a trainer, so I started frequenting different machines randomly. I felt quite invigorated and macho as my body got pumped up. But the next day when I woke up, I felt all my joints hurting and did not go to the gym.

Learn from my mistake and never start exercising as per your whims and fancies. Gym workouts requires patience and a systematic plan. Always consult experts and formulate an exercise regimen. Stick with the routine and reap its benefits in the longer run.

5. Get your nutrition right

If you have been running all your life like me and have switched to gym workouts, you need to understand that nutritional requirements are different for lifting weights. You need to increase protein intake to build strength which will eventually help you build muscles. Take advice from gym trainers and form a diet plan according to their recommendations. A diet plan made for your body type and exercising schedule will go a long way in building those biceps or toned arms, which will add to your appeal and make you love the gym a little more, even if you really prefer the great outdoors like me!
