If you are out camping with your friends or family, why not make it some extra fun with exciting games. Here I will give you 3 simple DIY games which you can create at home just before the day of camping or even at camping site.
Camping Washers
See who can aim the target best by playing washers. This game is easy to make and simple to play.
Here is all the stuff you need to make washers:
- Rectangular plastic box
- Plastic coupling
- Plastic cap
- Sticky tape
- Six washers
Process
First of all put the cap on the end of the plastic joint, and assemble the cup on the plastic box by sticking it on with the tape. Make sure that the coupling is properly stuck to the box, so as not to ruin the game in the middle while playing. You can also paint the washers to add a pop of color and to keep the record of points made easily.
How to play
You can play this game in teams or individually. All players take turns trying to throw the washers into the cup. You can come up with your own scoring system, or use mine: A washer in the cup is worth 5 points. Washers in the bin are worth 3 points. Washers touching the outside edge of the bin are worth 2 points. The closest washer outside the bin is worth 1 point. Keep a record of each player’s points. The first person or team to get to 21 points wins.
Mini Golf
Golf is popular with the kids these days, so why not play a miniaturised version of it at your camping site?
Collect the following stuff to make and play golf on the camp ground:
- Golf putters
- Ball of your choice
- Drinking cup, or some other form of hole
- Sticks, rocks, camp gear and other objects to create obstacles
Process
Lay down the cup and all the obstacles you have collected on the ground in a creative way to create the best game. Kids will love creating a course for everyone to complete. Choose the starting point and the order in which the players will play.
How to play
Each player goes in the chosen order to strike their ball with the golf putter - the one to get the ball in the hole with the least amount of strokes is duly recognised by their peers as a champion.
Glow Bowling
Once you are tired of singing and dancing around the campfire at night, you can switch to playing glow bowling. Bowling is exciting for everyone, and so here is the formula to create this super fun game with a glowing twist.
Things you’ll need:
- 10 or more glow sticks
- 10 clear plastic bottles with their labels removed
- A heavy ball preferably with some reflective elements
- Water
- Pen and paper to keep the score
Process
Pour water in all the bottles, and then crack your glow sticks, drop one into each of the water bottles and close the lid tightly. Set the plastic bottle bowling pins out in a triangular formation. You can use more glow sticks to create a bowling lane and to give a more playful and decorative look.
How to play
Knock down the glowing bowling pins with the ball turn by turn and keep the score in your diary. Unlike the commercial bowling alley, this activity won’t require any special shoes!
These simple games can be a lot of fun when played in the wilderness under the starry skies. Create these easy games on the spot and get everybody in the playful mood to create memorable moments on your camping vacation.
