Bicycles have constantly been evolving since its invention, though their basic structure has always been same. It started with a wooden, human mounted avatar. Dandy-Horse which was the push-along device came along as the precursor to the modern form of bicycles available in the market.
Scottish blacksmith, Kirkpatrick Macmillan has to be credited for the pedal-driven bicycle in the late nineteenth century. Since then, cycles have taken a fair leap that you can clearly see in today’s models. The cube electric bikes are at the top lead, when it comes to innovation. Some of these innovations are useful and some can even be described into the category of being weird and wacky.
Let us look at some of the most innovative inventions in cycles:
Cydekick
When you pedal your cycle, the Cydekick generates power to your phone which saves the phone from getting discharged. This device is a must for cyclists who plan to go on long travelling tours. It is connected to a handlebar and headlamp mounted USB charger which has the ability to power your phone and charge it while you’re out riding.
There are many such inventions which have changed the way we looked at the world. The new ideas have definitely eased our ways of living.
The First Airbag Bicycle Helmet – Hövding
Complete with a superior shock absorption as compared to the traditional helmets, Hövding acts as a cushion against any head injury and protects your head from any crash that may take place. It is an invisible airbag that wraps around the neck. If you get into some type of mishap or a crash, its sensors quickly detects it and the airbag is deployed, saving your head against injuries.
Copenhagen Wheel
Copenhagen wheel boosts the momentum of the cycle and makes it less tiring for the cyclists. It also acts like a guide to your cycling venture and helps you to record the amount of calories you burned. One of the main features of Copenhagen wheel is that it can be recharged from the break of the bike. You need to pedal the cycle, which will recharge your bike.
The bike also has a power source from where the Copenhagen wheel can be recharged.
Bikes with Anti-Theft GPS Trackers
This is a great invention that lets you track your bike while you get involved in any foul snatch. There are varied forms of this device including the GPS trackers which can be hidden somewhere secretly in the bike. The device can be frequently updated through a mobile phone or a smart device. The smart pedals keep a record of the fitness of your health.
Bike and Washing Machine Hand in Hand
One of the craziest and innovative ideas in the field of bikes and cycles is the BMW bike washing machine. B.M.W in the name does not suggest that the bike moves like a car, rather it is indicative of the twin process that is involved here. You can do the laundry as well as keep your muscles fit at the same time.
The pedalling of the machine causes the wheels to rotate and is the best multi-tasking tool for people who want to save their time.
Every now and then, there is some kind of bike inventions which keep hitting the market. It’s a tiring task to be in trend. So, it would be better if you choose bikes according to the trip you are planning and your specific requirement.
