Comfort and joy in a sleeping pod
If you’re planning a few outdoors adventures and holidays with the family this year, now is the time to snap up a few bargains. In particular, we have a range of sleeping bags in our sale, and do remember that if you buy before the end of January there will be FREE delivery.
One innovative sleeping bag that has really impressed us is the Sleeping Pod. Made by Gelert, this sleeping bag has won a number of awards, including a Camping Magazine Award.
The pod is unique in that it has comfort at the top of its must-do list. The Gelert Sleeping Pod is designed to offer unrestricted body movement once you’re in the bag. The rounded and wide shape means you can curl up and turn around inside the bag, allowing you to sleep in any position that you find comfortable.
Why it's good to move in a sleeping bag
If you haven’t used a sleeping bag before – or for a few years – you may have forgotten about the aches and pains of sleeping in a "normal" shaped bag. Although still very popular, mummy-shaped sleeping bags or traditional oblong shaped sleeping bags can restrict your movement as you sleep. Instead of being able to turn inside the bag, you are required to turn over at the same time as the bag as you look for a comfy position.
We all naturally move around while sleeping and this helps to avoid soreness in bones and joints by changing our position every so often. This is especially important when sleeping outdoors because you are more likely to be sleeping close to the ground and on a thin camping mat or blow-up mattress. These are never as comfortable as your own bed!
Benefits of the sleeping pod
The Sleeping Pod gets around this problem by allowing you to move around inside the bag, as though you were under your duvet at home.
Added to this the Sleeping Pod has a mono fibre/polyester mix filling which will keep you warm even when temperatures drop to -2.7C and when the inside of the tent gets a little damp. The bag is rated a two to three season for those who need to know this info.
The Gelert Sleeping Pod comes in a range of sizes for children and adults and has its own compression sac. It is worth knowing that because the bag is bigger when laid out it will also be a bit larger than other sleeping bags when packed away in it’s compression sac. For families who are camping from their cars this will not prove a problem and will certainly offer a great night’s sleep.
Other sleeping bags from Gelert
While not as roomy as the Sleeping Pod, Gelert bags are wider than any other brands and are also ideal for a family looking to keep a hold on the budget. Check out the other sleeping bags in the Outdoor Look sale.
