An Expert Guide to Walking and Hiking Trails during Hot Weather
Summer is here! It is the perfect time to go out and explore your favourite trails, be it national or local ones.
But, whilst planning for your everyday walk or the outdoor trails, it is important to know a few things to prepare you for the same. An in-stone expert, Christian Allen shares their advice upon such dilemmas:
- Find your stride
Trail running is more technical than running on the road and you need to have certain understanding about the trails that you are going to explore. If you are trying to travel at a given speed, it is important to enable yourself in tackling uphills, downhills, flats, and unpredictable terrain as economically as possible. Christian says that, it us important to focus on the few strides ahead of you and also be aware in the meantime of the obstacles that lie ahead of you. Moreover, you can also take a note of shorter routes to not burnout and get ahead of the game. Your strides should be soft and stable to keep your glutes and core stronger.
- Get to the root of it
Before starting your trail, it is important to check the place be it in your GPD system, or in maps. Although, all trails are important to start off with your explorations, bit make sure to take a map wherever you go. You should also keep track of where you came from. Sports watches are a great way to keep track of your bodily activities as well as the place you are going towards.
- Kit List
Stay comfortable on your path by carrying the safety kit along with you. The right kit helps you go forward a long way. You can support your ankles and consider the environment wherein you will be walking. Lightweight and reasonable, this utility kit can vary from the boots you are wearing to a good backpack. If you are wearing high ankle boots, they can protect you from the muddy terrain and the insects. A good backpack can consist of the essentials including snacks and drinks that will keep you hydrated throughout the journey. It should also suit your activity so that you can carry it easily. You can book a free appointment to check the fit online at the local Cotswold Outdoor store.
If you are running new trails, you are required to check the type of shoe you will be wearing. It will give you enough grip on the sole that supports the underfoot. Ut also helps the stones from breaking through. Check which running shoes are best for you while you also get a free analysis in our in-store and get the perfect fit.
A head torch, a blanket, and some layers to keep you protected during the winters are some of the essential requirements which can also fit inside your backpack easily. Keep it mind of other things which you deem necessary for the trip.
- Keep yourself safe
It is important to note that we should be wary of our safety. If you have the perfect kit, the GPS installed or the watch, you already have the necessary equipments which can prepare you well for the trip. The correct kit not only helps you stay safe, but also prepares you for the uneven trail ahead.
