Mac and cheese - can you name a more iconic duo? I love everything that is made from mac and cheese. It’s an additional bonus if old world flavours with veggies and spices have been added. For someone who can’t keep his love of mac and cheese hidden, having to eat anything made with of them is heavenly, as I truly believe that mac and cheese is the greatest culinary invention in world history. So, here are some recipes that you ought to be trying for your undying love of dishes made with this delightful combo. These backcountry recipes, which can be made at home, are sure to blow your taste buds away.
Classic Mac
It is possible to prepare this recipe very easily at home; all you do is get some easily available ingredients like
- 200g macaroni
- 100g cheese of your choice
- 350ml whole milk powder
- 1 tbsp flour
Salt and pepper to spice up the taste of the recipe. Next what I must ask of you is that you heat the milk on a medium level, only to let it start boiling. Soak the mushrooms in 2 cups of water for only 20 minutes because these mushrooms are known for adding savory depth to your dish. Then save the water and boost flavor, using the leftover liquid to cook the pasta. Reduce the heat for mixing flour into it, until the time there are no signs of any clumps left. Again, start to thicken it up to 3 to 5 minutes, adding cheese and stirring it smoothly.
Chili Mac & Cheese
- 2 medium green chilies
- 100g aged Gouda
Then after this you can repeating the same steps as for the Classic Mac to prepare, while stirring the chilies in the cheese just before the pasta.
Serve as dinner in a traditional mac way with flame scorching chilies.
Cajun Macaroni
This can be prepared deliciously with a homemade spice mix and Spanish style chorizo. With ingredients like
- 100g chorizo
- 100g Manchego
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
This can be prepared the same way as the Classic Mac, stirring chorizo and adding sauce to the pasta.
Homemade Cajun Seasoning
The Homemade Cajun Seasoning is very easy to prepare within minutes, because all you need is
- 1 tbsp garlic, oregano, basil
- ½ tbsp thyme, black pepper, white pepper, mace, celery seeds
- ½ tbsp cayenne pepper
- 3 tbsp paprika
- Dash of salt
